These wise words were inspired by Almighty God Himself. Because He’s a good Father and He loves us immensely, He is advising us to get wisdom above all else, and the first step toward true wisdom is fearing God. He alone is Sovereign, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, and present everywhere at all times.
When we know Him in close relationship, the fear of Him is no longer terror, but tremendous awe, respect and honor.
A good way to gain wisdom is to get to know God through reading and meditating on His Word, the Bible, and as we do, it’s important to ask for insight from God by His Spirit. The Book of Proverbs in the Old Testament is a great source of wisdom.
Also, God encourages us to ask for wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 CSB
