Our huge solar system is just a very small part of the Milky Way Galaxy. It’s estimated that the galaxy contains over 200 billion stars and that it measures about 100,000 light years across. The Milky Way is racing through the universe at 1.3 million miles per hour.
Earth is rotating at 1000 mph and revolving around the sun at 67,000 mph. And because we’re part of the Milky Way, we’re also moving with it, at 1.3 million mph! Feeling dizzy yet?
“You, LORD, are the only God.
You created the heavens,
the highest heavens with all their stars,
the earth and all that is on it,
the seas and all that is in them.
You give life to all of them,
and all the stars of heaven worship You.”
Nehemiah 9:6 CSB
