Sometimes God seems far away. Often it’s because we’ve chosen to go our own way. We are easily distracted by daily life and the things going on around us. We tend to look for fulfillment where it doesn’t exist. When we realize that God is the real treasure and that we are authentically fulfilled when we’re in close relationship with Him, it changes everything.
He has told us in His Word that we could never escape His presence. If we want to know and feel His nearness, how serious are we about pursuing Him? Is it just a passing thought once in awhile? Or is it a real desire to know Him—and to walk through life right next to Him and allow Him to be Lord of our lives? If we’re serious, we need to believe Him and pursue Him even when we don’t feel His presence near. He may be testing our faith. Faith believes no matter what. He’s totally worthy of our complete faith in Him and faith is what pleases Him.
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 ESV
“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He also hears their cry and saves them. The Lord preserves all who love Him . . ” Psalm 145:18-20 ESV
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:8 ESV
“But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.” Psalm 73:28 ESV
“Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:7-10 ESV

oh yes! His delight is to dwell with His people. sadly i so often forget Him and pursue other loves. but He remains Immanuel. even when darkness veils His face, we hold fast to the truth in His word: “I will never leave you!”
